
Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant met Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi on Thursday to discuss key environmental and forest-related matters affecting the state. Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Ramesh Tawadkar, was also present during the meeting.
As per the Chief Minister’s Office, Dr. Sawant raised important issues such as the need for timely environmental clearances, improved forest management, and the resolution of challenges that impact both ecological balance and developmental projects in Goa. He thanked the Union Minister for his prompt response to the state’s concerns, highlighting the value of strong Centre-state coordination in addressing environmental issues.
Dr. Sawant emphasised that Goa’s distinct ecological setting demands a balanced approach to development and conservation. He underlined the importance of central support to ensure that the state can move ahead with vital infrastructure and economic initiatives without harming its natural heritage. Reaffirming the state’s commitment to sustainable growth, the Chief Minister called for continued dialogue and partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to address both short-term and long-term priorities.
The meeting underscored Goa’s proactive efforts to work closely with the Union Government in obtaining necessary clearances and policy guidance, while also protecting its forests, wildlife, and natural resources. Dr. Sawant’s discussions with Minister Bhupender Yadav reflect the state’s steady focus on aligning development goals with environmental responsibility.
