Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced on April 30, 2025, that all teachers suffering from terminal illnesses will be granted medical leave, addressing a long-standing demand from educators. The decision was revealed during the Kalagurujan Edu-Cultural Festival organised by the Higher Secondary Teachers Association of Goa (HISTAG), where Sawant assured that a formal circular would soon be issued after consultations with the State Education Secretary and the Director of Education.

Alongside this policy, Sawant emphasised the need for teachers to upgrade their skills and adopt futuristic teaching methods amid advancements in AI, stressing that "man-to-man connect" remains vital for student guidance. The government also announced plans to cluster schools for effective implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, with common question papers to be set by SCERT starting in 2025–26. Also, Sawant highlighted Goa’s focus on white-collar job creation through initiatives like the upcoming World Peace University at Tivim, which aims to offer local youth apprenticeships and skill-based opportunities.
