Chief Minister Pramod Sawant reaffirmed the State government's commitment to empowering women in rural Goa by promoting self-reliance and financial independence. Speaking at an event at Ravindra Bhavan in Sanquelim, Sawant presented sewing machines to 150 women who had successfully completed tailoring training.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr. Levinson Martins, Sanquelim Municipal Council Chairperson Siddhi Prabhu, Anand Kanekar, and Vijay Kumar Natekar.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Labour and Employment as part of its women empowerment programme, aims to equip women with vocational skills to support sustainable livelihoods. Sawant highlighted that since 2016, the government has conducted various training programs across the State to aid women’s socio-economic development.
He further announced that around 1,450 women across Goa are expected to benefit from the scheme, with similar distributions planned in other talukas in the coming months.
