A tragic accident took place at Post Wada Honda in Sattari, resulting in the death of one Goa Electricity Department employee and injuries to another during maintenance work on an electric pole.

The deceased, Chandru Gaonkar, a resident of Morle, Sattari, was reportedly working on a pole when he accidentally came in contact with live electrical wires, causing him to be electrocuted and get stuck on the pole.

His colleague, Sarvesh Gaonkar, who is believed to have been working alongside him, also suffered an electric shock and fell to the ground. He sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Local authorities and department officials have begun an investigation into the incident. Preliminary reports suggest a possible lapse in safety protocols or a communication failure regarding the power supply status at the time of maintenance.

Residents of the area expressed shock and grief over the incident, calling for stricter safety measures for field staff working with high-voltage equipment.

This is a developing story, and further details are awaited from the Electricity Department and police.
