Goa Government Approves 50:50 Cost-Sharing Model for EV Charging Stations

In a major push towards green mobility and clean energy, the Goa government on Tuesday approved a cost-sharing model for the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the state. Under the new plan, the government will bear 50% of the cost, while private developers will be responsible for the remaining 50%.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to review key renewable energy initiatives. The meeting was attended by top officials from the finance, home, and general administration departments, along with representatives from the Goa State Pollution Control Board.

In another significant move, the government also decided to change the legal status of the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) from a society to a company. The transformation aims to enhance GEDA's efficiency and capacity to drive renewable energy projects across the state.

The twin decisions are seen as part of Goa’s broader strategy to promote sustainable development, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and create a robust ecosystem for EV adoption and clean energy technologies.
