Goa Liquor Scam Comparable to Delhi's, Alleges Leader; Claims Government Backing Inevitable

In a scathing statement, Vijai Sardesai has alleged that the unfolding liquor scam in Goa is on par with — if not bigger than — the infamous Delhi liquor scam. Drawing a sharp comparison, the leader remarked, “It’s like our Goans are trying to show ‘Hum kisise kam nahi’,” implying that the scale of the scam reflects a disturbing trend of competitive corruption.

He further claimed that such a large-scale operation would not have been possible without the tacit support or involvement of government officials. “Scams of this magnitude don’t happen in isolation. There’s always a system behind it, and unfortunately, that system often includes the state machinery,” he said.

The remarks come amid growing scrutiny over alleged irregularities in the issuance of liquor licenses and permissions in Goa. Opposition parties have demanded a thorough investigation and accountability from those in power.
