South Goa Member of Parliament Captain Viriato Fernandes (INC) has slammed the Goa BJP government following the announcement of the double tracking route from Hospet to Vasco-da-Gama.
Fernandes accused the state government of misleading the public since the lockdown, claiming the project was meant for passenger traffic, while it is now being used for coal transportation. He called the BJP administration in Goa the “corrupt 30 percent sarkar” and alleged that the government has prioritized corporate interests over public welfare.
The MP urged that coal transport be stopped and that MPA control be returned from Adani’s private hands to the public sector. He asserted that Goa will not accept the “Gujarat model” run by a sold-out government in Porvorim.
This statement adds to growing opposition and public debate over coal transport and infrastructure projects in the state.
