As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to launch the “One State, One Global Destination” initiative to boost tourism across India, the Goa government has unveiled plans to upgrade one major tourist location to international standards. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, speaking after the recent NITI Aayog meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, said the tourism department has been tasked with identifying a key site—likely a beach or other prominent attraction—for this transformation. The goal is to develop world-class facilities and infrastructure that will appeal to global travelers.
He also reaffirmed Goa’s commitment to contributing to national goals, including eliminating tuberculosis by 2025. To support economic growth, the state plans to amend Ease of Doing Business regulations to attract more domestic and foreign investment.
This initiative is in line with Goa’s long-term vision of “Vikasit Goa 2037,” which focuses on building robust physical, economic, environmental, social, and educational infrastructure. Sawant highlighted that the state is prioritizing sectors such as agriculture, education, and sustainable development, with particular emphasis on enhancing digital infrastructure.
These efforts aim to fast-track Goa’s development and support India’s broader vision of becoming a fully developed nation by 2047.
