A group of individual taxi drivers from across Goa on Tuesday met the Director of Transport to complain against alleged harassment they face while picking up customers from hotels.
The drivers said most of their bookings are made via phone calls or through travel agencies, but since they do not have designated taxi stands, they are often confronted and troubled by other taxi owners.
They demanded that the Transport Department put in place a system that safeguards their right to operate and prevents unnecessary disputes at hotels and tourist locations.
The Transport Director assured the drivers that their concerns would be examined and steps would be taken to ensure fair treatment while balancing the interests of all operators.
