In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious tourism initiative, the Goa government has announced plans to develop a premier tourist destination that meets international standards.
The announcement came after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attended the NITI Aayog meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, where the concept of "One State, One Global Destination" was introduced. Modi urged all chief ministers to accelerate development efforts to realize the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047.
Briefing the media following the meeting in New Delhi, Chief Minister Sawant stated that Goa has committed to identifying and upgrading one tourism site to global standards. “I have already discussed this with the tourism minister. The department has been instructed to shortlist the location—be it a beach or any other site—and we will develop it with world-class amenities and infrastructure,” Sawant said.
He also highlighted Goa’s broader developmental roadmap titled ‘Vikasit Goa 2037’, emphasizing five key pillars: physical infrastructure, economic infrastructure, environmental sustainability, social infrastructure, and educational excellence.
Sawant further noted that sectors like agriculture, education, and sustainable development will be prioritized, with digital infrastructure emerging as a central focus area.
Additionally, the Goa government plans to amend its Ease of Doing Business policies to attract greater foreign direct investment (FDI) and stimulate local entrepreneurship.
Reiterating the state’s commitment to national goals, Sawant mentioned Goa’s ongoing efforts to contribute to the ‘TB Mukt Bharat’ mission, aiming to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025.
