In a significant move to curb rampant land violations, Goa's TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane has announced that a stringent law targeting hill cutting and illegal land plotting will be introduced before the next Assembly session.
Responding to concerns raised by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, who highlighted over 1,000 alleged violations and criticised the department’s inaction, Rane assured firm steps. He stated that the Town and Country Planning Department will begin filing FIRs in all such cases to ensure accountability and deterrence.
The upcoming legislation aims to strengthen enforcement and safeguard Goa’s ecological balance amid increasing instances of illegal land activity.
