Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured the public that the State government is taking the recent Goa University exam paper leak seriously, despite the institution’s autonomous status.
Addressing the issue in the Assembly, CM Sawant stated that retired Justice R.M.S. Khandeparkar was appointed to investigate the incident. The report from the inquiry has been accepted by the government and will be officially submitted to the newly appointed Chancellor, Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai.
“The government may not interfere in the day-to-day functioning of the University due to its autonomous nature, but we are committed to ensuring accountability,” Sawant said. He further informed that an academic audit of the university is currently in progress, alongside the drafting of a comprehensive vision plan for its future development.
The paper leak incident had raised serious concerns among students, faculty, and the general public, prompting calls for greater oversight and reforms within the university system.
