The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa has issued a yellow alert for the state, which will remain in effect until June 27, 2025. The alert applies to both North and South Goa, where light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue over the coming days.
A yellow alert is issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to warn the public of potentially hazardous weather conditions, such as heavy rainfall at isolated places. It is the lowest level in the IMD’s colour-coded warning system, which includes yellow, orange, and red alerts.
While a yellow alert does not indicate an immediate severe threat, it urges people to stay updated, exercise caution, and prepare for possible disruptions, especially in vulnerable or low-lying areas.
According to IMD’s forecast, Goa will experience rain at many locations, often accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. The bulletin also warns of isolated heavy rain in the Konkan and Goa regions during this period, as the southwest monsoon remains active.
The recent spell of monsoon showers has already drenched parts of the state, and this trend is expected to continue throughout the week. Authorities and residents are urged to stay updated through official channels, avoid unnecessary travel during intense rainfall, and take steps to minimize risks from waterlogging or flash flooding.
