In a tragic and deeply disturbing case, Sameer Babulal Shaikh, a young social worker from Sanvordem, Goa, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a rented room in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
Sameer had reportedly left for Delhi on May 30, 2025. Concern grew among family members after he went incommunicado, prompting them to file a missing person report at the Curchorem Police Station on June 2. Responding swiftly, Goa Police dispatched PSI Gautam Shettar and PC Abhinav Chohan to Delhi to assist in the search.
Using the last known mobile location, the officers identified a rented accommodation in Ghaziabad where Sameer had allegedly been staying with four acquaintances. Two of them were traced and detained. When police arrived at the rented room with the suspects, they discovered Sameer’s decomposed body, believed to have been lying there for nearly 10 days.
While the exact cause of death is still under investigation, authorities are awaiting post-mortem and forensic reports to determine whether foul play was involved. The two detained individuals have been handed over to Ghaziabad Police, who have launched a manhunt for the remaining two suspects.
Sameer’s body has been transported back to Goa for the final rites, even as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding his mysterious death.
