Ethan’s Total Medal Tally for India Reaches 21 After Stellar Performance in Tajikistan

Goa’s chess prodigy Ethan Vaz has brought laurels to India once again, winning five medals at the Western Asia Youth Chess Championships 2025, held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, from April 20 to 29. With this remarkable achievement, Ethan’s all-time medal count representing India has risen to 21.

The prestigious tournament, organized by the Tajikistan Chess Federation under the aegis of the Asian Chess Federation and FIDE, featured three formats—Standard (Classical), Rapid, and Blitz.

Competing in the Under-16 (Sub-Junior) Open category, Ethan clinched:

  • 🥈 Silver in Standard

  • 🥈 Silver in Rapid

  • 🥉 Bronze in Blitz

Additionally, he played a key leadership role in helping India secure:
