
The Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) in Goa is all set for the next phase of e-auction by carving out potential mineral blocks from nine existing iron ore mining leases. Since 2023, the State has e-auctioned 12 mineral blocks comprising 24 mining leases. Of these, seven blocks have received Environmental Clearance (EC), and two have already begun operations. The 12 blocks auctioned so far include key sites such as Cudnem-Cormolem, Surla Sonshi, Tivim-Pirna, Bicholim-Mulgao, and Codli, among others. Major companies like JSW Steel, Kai International, Agarvanshi Steep Corporation, Vedanta, Fomento Resources, and Salgaocar Shipping have secured these blocks. Also, ECs have been granted to several companies, including Vedanta, JSW Steel, and Fomento Resources. Notably, Vedanta Ltd was the first to resume mining operations at the Bicholim block.
Past Auctions: Since 2023, 12 mineral blocks (24 leases) have been auctioned.
Environmental Clearances: 7 blocks have received EC; 2 are operational.
