PANJIM: The State government has set a cap of 1.4 lakh beneficiaries for the Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS), limiting the number of individuals who can avail themselves of financial assistance under the scheme.

A notification issued on December 26, informed that if the number of applications exceeds the cap, a waiting list will be created on a first-come, first-served basis.

“The cap for beneficiaries under this scheme has been set at 1,40,000. If applications surpass this limit, a waiting list will be created, with priority given in the order of receipt,” the notification stated.

Applicants must have an annual family income not exceeding Rs 1.50 lakh. Under the scheme widows without children will be eligible for a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500. Widows with a youngest child under the age of 21 will receive Rs 4,000 per month. Widows with children above 21 years of age, or those above 60 years of age, will be entitled to Rs 2,500 per month.

The notification specified that widows eligible for financial assistance under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme will not be able to avail themselves of benefits under the Griha Aadhar Scheme.
