PANJIM: The State government has approved the suspension of a confirmed teacher who was allegedly involved in the alleged assault of a Std IV student at primary school in Camurlim.

After conducting the hearings with both the teachers and management, the Director of Education Shailesh Zingde approved the suspension of the regular teacher involved in the incident.

“The suspension order was issued long back after the school management had suspended the duo. The management had sought my approval as per protocol which was granted within 15 days,” Zingde said.

“The suspension was mandated as the regular teacher had been detained for more than 48 hours after her arrest. The services of the second teacher were terminated by the management as she was employed on contractual basis by the school,” Zingde said.

The two teachers Sujal Gawade and Kanisha Gadekar were arrested following allegations they assaulted a 9-year-old boy.

Reports indicated that the child had sustained multiple injuries, including bruises, cut marks, and blood clots after being assaulted with a ruler.
