Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar visited the Chorao ferry point on Thursday, where a ferry boat recently sank in the Mandovi River, and raised serious questions about procedural lapses by authorities.
Patkar criticized officials for initiating the removal of the partially submerged vessel without first issuing a formal work order.
“It is shocking that such critical operations are being carried out without proper documentation and transparency,” he said, demanding accountability from the concerned departments.
The incident has disrupted ferry services and inconvenienced commuters, drawing scrutiny over safety and administrative preparedness. Patkar urged the government to conduct an inquiry and ensure protocols are strictly followed in all recovery and repair operations.
