GSEIAA Issues Stop Work Order to Worldwide Resorts Over Alleged Environmental Violations

The Goa State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (GSEIAA) has issued a Stop Work Order to Worldwide Resorts & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. after receiving a formal complaint from MLA Viresh Borkar. The complaint alleged violations of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, in the company’s ongoing activities.

Acting on the MLA’s concerns, GSEIAA launched an inquiry into alleged illegalities related to the project and determined that the company was in breach of environmental regulations. As a result, the authority ordered all work to cease immediately until further notice and compliance is ensured.

The move underscores the state's commitment to enforcing environmental laws and holding developers accountable for any lapses. Further investigation is expected to follow to assess the extent of the violations and decide on any additional penalties or legal action.
