PANJIM: Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has said that it will hold an environmental public hearing on the proposal for enhancement of Iron Ore Wet Beneficiation Plant at Sanguem by Fomento Industries on October 16, 2024.
“Public hearing as per Environmental Impact Assessment Notification 2006, with respect to Wet Beneficiation Plant of M/s Greater Ferromet (Division of Sociedade De Fomento Industrial Private Limited) for Enhancement of Iron Ore Wet Beneficiation Plant from 0.64 Million TPA (0.914 Million TPA throughput) to 0.674 Million TPA (1.0 Million TPA Throughput) through Modernization will be held at at survey no.9/1 (Part) and 10/1 (Part) of Santona Village, Sanguem Taluka, South Goa District Goa," a notice issued by the GSPCB said.
According to the EIA report and EMP submitted by the company, the enhancement in capacity will be through modernisation while, the total cost of the enhancement of capacity is Rs 79.4 crore, of which Rs 44.4 crore is the cost of the existing project while Rs 35 crore the cost of the proposed enhancement.
