Students from Halarna Panchkroshi High School, Pernem, recently visited the Mopa Airport Police Station as part of an educational outreach initiative aimed at familiarizing them with the workings of the police force and increasing awareness about legal procedures, particularly those involving juveniles.
During the interactive session, Police Inspector Narayan Chimulkar educated the students on the juvenile justice system. He explained how cases involving minors are handled differently from those involving adults, with an emphasis on rehabilitation rather than punishment. Inspector Chimulkar detailed the role of the Juvenile Justice Board and clarified that the law aims to reform young offenders and help them reintegrate into society rather than impose harsh penalties.
The session also included a crucial segment on cyber crime awareness, led by Officer Ashish Parab. He discussed the increasing risks in the digital space, including online scams, identity theft, and cyberbullying. Parab offered students practical advice on how to stay safe online and underscored the importance of protecting personal information. He encouraged them to report any suspicious or harmful online activity to the authorities without hesitation.
The initiative aimed to build trust between the youth and law enforcement while empowering students with essential knowledge about the law and digital safety.
