Goa's Fisheries Minister Halarnkar Breaks Silence on Cabinet Exit Talks, Blames Media Rumors
Published on

Goa’s Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar has addressed ongoing rumors about his possible removal from the Pramod Sawant-led Cabinet, stating that such speculation has been circulating since just three months after he took office. Halarnkar emphasized that he has received no official communication from the government regarding any plans to drop him from his ministerial role.

“It’s been the same story since the beginning,” Halarnkar noted, implying that the persistent buzz is primarily driven by media speculation rather than any real political developments. While refraining from directly criticizing the press, he did question the accuracy and quality of recent reporting on the matter.

Currently, Halarnkar continues to hold charge of the portfolios for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, and Factories and Boilers. He represents the Tivim constituency as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. As of June 2025, there has been no official statement or notification indicating any change to his Cabinet position.

His remarks reflect the often rumor-heavy environment surrounding Cabinet reshuffles in state politics, where speculation tends to thrive in the absence of confirmed information. Until a formal announcement is made by the government, Halarnkar remains an active member of the Goa Cabinet.
