In a significant step toward ensuring universal access to clean drinking water, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant launched the ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ initiative on Monday in Agassaim, located in the St. Andre constituency. The program, part of the national Jal Jeevan Mission, aims to provide functional household tap connections to every rural home, marking a major milestone in Goa’s commitment to public health and infrastructure development.

The launch event was attended by MLA Shri Viresh Borkar and other key officials, highlighting the state government's focus on enhancing the quality of life for all Goans.

As part of this initiative, major infrastructure upgrades are being implemented, including the construction of a 2000m³ Ground Level Reservoir (GLR) and a 650m³ Overhead Reservoir (OHR). These vital additions will reinforce the water distribution network in Bambolim, Nauxim, and nearby villages, ensuring a consistent, safe, and uninterrupted water supply for thousands of residents.

Speaking at the ceremony, CM Sawant stated, “The ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ initiative is not just about pipelines and taps—it’s about improving health, hygiene, and the overall well-being of our people.”

In addition to new installations, the program also includes efforts to retrofit and modernize existing water supply systems, upgrading outdated infrastructure to meet current standards. This comprehensive approach is expected to significantly reduce waterborne illnesses, enhance sanitation, and promote a healthier, more resilient rural population.

With the launch of this initiative, the Goa government reiterates its commitment to sustainable development and inclusive progress. The ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ program stands as a testament to the state's resolve to deliver essential services and elevate the standard of living across its rural communities.
