HC Issues Notices to Kashinath Shetye in ACB Plea Over FIR in Madkaikar Bribery Case

The High Court has issued notices to activist Kashinath Shetye and others in response to a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The ACB is challenging a lower court’s order directing the registration of an FIR into bribery allegations levelled by former minister Pandurang Madkaikar.

Reacting to the development, Shetye questioned the ACB’s motives. “I don’t even know whether it is the Anti-Corruption Bureau or the Corruption Bureau,” he remarked. “What was the need to challenge the lower court’s directive? They should have conducted an investigation. Anyway, they didn’t get a stay on the order. The matter will be heard on July 1, and I am confident we will win.”

Shetye added that if the High Court upholds the directive, the ACB will be compelled to proceed with the investigation. “We will argue our case and we will win this matter in the High Court,” he said.
