A major traffic jam was reported on the Banastari–Old Goa stretch of the national highway on Monday, after the Gandaulim route was shut down, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
With no alternate routes readily accessible, a surge in diverted traffic led to long queues and slow movement along the highway, especially during morning peak hours. Traffic police were deployed to regulate the flow and ease congestion.
Authorities have urged motorists to plan alternate routes and avoid the area until normal traffic conditions resume. Further updates are awaited on when the Gandaulim route will be reopened.
