Vehicular traffic on the busy Mapusa–Calangute road came to a halt on Monday after a large advertisement board collapsed due to strong gusty winds. The incident caused major disruption, particularly for traffic heading towards the coastal belt of Calangute.
Authorities have diverted vehicles from Mapusa towards Calangute at the Nagoa Dream Circle, rerouting them via Arpora to ease congestion and ensure public safety.
No injuries were reported at the time of the incident. Officials from the local traffic police and municipal services responded swiftly to clear the debris and manage traffic flow. An inquiry is likely to be initiated into the structural integrity of the fallen hoarding and the process by which it was erected.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes until the affected stretch is fully cleared and reopened.
