A man claiming to be the General Secretary of the Congress party from Hyderabad and his pregnant wife were allegedly assaulted at the Panjim bus stand on Thursday after a dispute over bike rental charges turned violent.
According to police, the couple had gone to return a rented bike when they were asked to pay an additional ₹200. They objected, saying the bike had been returned on time, leading to a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical scuffle.
The victim alleged that he was attacked by a group of men, sustaining head injuries, while his pregnant wife was also assaulted, leaving her with swelling on her cheek. He has been admitted to Goa Medical College for treatment. Police are investigating the incident.
