CALANGUTE: Illegal structures constructed in the CRZ area at Khobrawaddo, Calangute were demolished by a team from the Dy Collector’s office yesterday. Officials said the demolition will continue on Saturday and another structure in the CRZ will be demolished too.
According to officials, there was litigation going on over the illegal structures constructed by a hotel in the no-development zone at Khobrawaddo.
Following a complaint about the illegal constructions, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) had issued a demolition order which had been kept on hold after it was challenged in the High Court.
With the Court deciding to act tough against illegal constructions, the GCZMA has carried out the demolition with cops around to maintain law and order.
