IMD Issues Orange Alert: Very Heavy Rain, Strong Winds to Lash Goa on Sept 3
Published on

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for North and South Goa on September 3, warning of very heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds reaching up to 50 km/h. Residents and visitors in the region are advised to remain cautious as the weather conditions may lead to localized flooding, waterlogging, and disruption in transport and daily activities.

Following this, yellow alerts have been declared for September 4 and 5, indicating heavy rainfall with a gradual improvement in weather conditions over both parts of Goa. The diminishing rainfall levels suggest that while the weather may remain disturbed, the intensity of the rain and wind is expected to lessen over these days.

The IMD forecast warns of possible damage to crops and power lines due to strong winds and suggests people stay indoors, avoid travel if possible, and take necessary precautions such as securing loose objects and unplugging electronic appliances. Citizens are encouraged to stay updated with weather forecasts and be prepared to move to safer areas if the situation worsens.
