IMD Issues Red Alert for Goa; Rain and Gusty Winds Expected Across State

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Goa, forecasting light to moderate rainfall and strong winds in both North and South Goa. The alert warns that wind speeds are likely to range between 30-40 km/h, with gusts potentially reaching 50 km/h in the coming 1 to 3 hours. These weather conditions could result in waterlogging in low-lying areas, slippery road surfaces, and temporary traffic disruptions.

In light of this, the IMD has advised residents to remain vigilant, limit unnecessary travel, and secure outdoor items that may be easily blown away by the gusty winds. Fishermen and small boat operators have been specifically cautioned to exercise extra care due to the adverse weather conditions at sea.

This warning comes as the pre-monsoon weather patterns continue to strengthen across the coastal regions of India, including Goa. The combination of rainfall and high winds is expected to disrupt daily life, potentially affecting transportation, infrastructure, and outdoor activities.

The IMD’s Red Alert serves as an early caution for the residents of Goa to prepare for the upcoming weather challenges, urging them to take necessary precautions to ensure safety. As the monsoon season approaches, it’s crucial to stay informed and be prepared for any further alerts that may arise.
