IMD issues yellow alert for today

PANJIM: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued yellow alert for September 2 warning of heavy rainfall with winds of 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph at isolated places over North and South Goa districts.

"Heavy rainfall with winds of 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph is very likely at isolated places over North and South Goa districts on September 2," the IMD said.

According to the IMD, since June 1 till September 1, the state has received 155.2 inches of rainfall as against the rainfall of 106.5 inches, registering an increase of 45.7 per cent.

Meanwhile, Quepem received the highest 1.9 inches of rainfall, Sanguem 0.9 inches, Mormugao 1 inch, Old Goa 0.9 inches, Valpoi and Canacona 0.6 inches each and Dabolim 0.8 inches during the last 24 hours ending 8.30 of September 1, 2024. So far Valpoi has received highest of 197.8 inches of rainfall followed by Sanguem which has received 188.6 inches of rainfall.
