In a first, Bicholim-based distiller bags GI tag for bottling Caju Feni

PANJIM: The Bicholim-based Cazcar Heritage Distiller became the first distillery to receive the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for distilling and bottling GI Caju Feni.

Vipalava Bhakta, partner of Cazcar Heritage Distiller received the GI Certificate from Commissioner of Excise Ankita Mishra, IAS.

Superintendent of Excise Mahesh Korgaonkar, nodal officer Shamba Naik, Gurudatta Bhakta, managing partner of Cazcar Heritage Distiller and Sadanand Naik, manager were present.

After a stringent inspection of the distilling process and bottling facilities, the Conformity Assessment Board was convinced in the compliance of the parameters of the GI Feni Policy and approved the distillery for the prestigious GI tag after a gap of 17 years.

The first GI tag was issued to Goa in 2008.
