PANJIM: Street Providence, in collaboration with retired Goa Police officers, has launched a project to safeguard the houses and properties of Goans living abroad.
The initiative provides services such as property protection from encroachments, maintenance, weed and bush removal, painting and renovation, plumbing, and repairs. The project aims to keep properties in top condition, even in the absence of their owners, as there have been multiple cases of encroachments being registered in the state. Overseen by experienced retired police personnel with trusted supervision and legal oversight, the mission is to protect Goan properties from illegal grabs and curb the sale of Goan lands.
Speaking to reporters, Street Providence Trustee Donald Fernandes said, “Through this project we will save properties under three aspects. The first aspect is security and surveillance which will be run by Bosco Gorge, a retired DIG along with retired police officers from Goa Police,” he said.
“The second part is the legal matters. This will be taken care of by Adve Caroline Colaco. The third aspect is maintenance. We have not fixed charges,” he said.
