In a significant breakthrough, North Goa Police have arrested two members of the notorious Irani gang for their alleged involvement in a series of gold chain snatching incidents across the state.

The accused, identified as Abbas Zaidi and Sharif Shah, both natives of Maharashtra, were taken into custody following a targeted operation. Police officials confirmed that the duo is linked to at least four chain snatching cases reported in different parts of Goa.

The arrests come as part of an ongoing crackdown on interstate criminal gangs operating in the region. Authorities have launched a wider probe to trace other members of the gang and recover the stolen gold ornaments.

“We have strong evidence linking the suspects to multiple cases. Efforts are underway to identify additional victims and recover the stolen property,” said a senior police officer.

The Irani gang is known for its involvement in various forms of street-level theft and deception-based crimes across several states. The latest arrests are expected to shed more light on their operations in Goa.
