The Bicholim police have arrested a 24-year-old man from Jamtara, Jharkhand, in connection with an online fraud case involving a Sankhali-based woman who was allegedly duped of ₹44,340.
The accused, identified as Pradeep Mandal, reportedly posed as a customer service representative offering to assist the 40-year-old woman with a Tata Sky recharge pack. Under the guise of helping her activate a DTH service, he convinced her to share sensitive banking information.
Using the details provided, Mandal allegedly carried out a fraudulent transaction, siphoning off ₹44,340 from the victim’s bank account.
Police said the arrest follows an investigation based on the woman’s complaint. Further inquiry is underway to determine whether the accused is linked to other similar cyber fraud cases.
