PANJIM: To raise awareness about tuberculosis, the Directorate of Health Services in Campal-Panaji has appointed renowned personalities John D'Silva and Varsha Usgaokar as Brand Ambassadors for the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme.
The duo has been actively creating engaging videos and social media reels to educate the public about the symptoms of tuberculosis and the importance of eradicating the disease by the year 2025.
Their campaign highlights the availability of free tuberculosis testing at local health centres and government hospitals, as well as the provision of free medication for six months, courtesy of the Health Services. With proper medical treatment, tuberculosis can be completely cured within six months.
Varsha Usgaokar, a household name, is celebrated as a talented actress, model, singer, and television personality. With over 100 appearances in Marathi and Hindi films, she is regarded as one of the finest and most influential actresses in Marathi cinema, praised for her beauty, exceptional dancing skills, and the strong characters she portrays on screen.
John D'Silva, affectionately known as "The Emperor of Konkani Stage" and "Superstar of Konkani Cinema," enjoys widespread popularity for his performances in Konkani films, web series, and his own Tiatr productions.
Together, D'Silva and Usgaokar are leveraging their star power to make a meaningful impact in the fight against tuberculosis, encouraging the public to take advantage of the free resources available to them.
