A potentially dangerous situation was averted on Sunday afternoon when a 40-year-old local resident toppled into the sea while kayaking off Hawaii beach. Thanks to the swift action of on-duty lifesaver Balakrishnan, the incident ended without injury.
According to eyewitnesses, the man had ventured a short distance from the shoreline when his kayak became unstable and overturned, throwing him into the water. Unable to regain control of the craft, he began struggling to stay afloat as waves pushed him further away.
Lifesaver Balakrishnan, who was keeping watch at the beach, immediately noticed the commotion. Grabbing a rescue tube, he quickly swam towards the distressed kayaker. After reaching him, Balakrishnan calmed the man, secured him with the tube, and carefully guided him back to shore.
Bystanders gathered on the beach breathed a sigh of relief as the exhausted kayaker was brought to safety within minutes. Officials later confirmed that he did not suffer any injuries and did not require hospitalisation.
Authorities have once again urged residents and tourists to exercise caution while engaging in water sports, stressing the importance of safety gear and supervision. They also praised the lifesavers for maintaining constant vigilance and preventing what could otherwise have turned tragic.
