PERNEM: Unni Ramesh (36) from Kerala, who was riding pillion was killed after he was run over by a truck at Arambol on Friday night. The two-wheeler rider Bendict Richard (28) also from Kerala, sustained minor injuries.
The accident occured when Gisle Merton, 66,
a Norwegian national while proceeding from Arambol to Mandrem
rode his motorcycle in rash and negligent manner at Kepkarwada, Arambol, collided against an oncoming two-wheeler ridden Bendict Richard along with pillion rider Unni Ramesh.
With the collision both were thrown on the road and pillion rider came under the rear tyres of the truck which was also proceeding from Mandrem to Arambol.
Gisle Merton too fell on the road along with his motorcycle and sustained injuries.
Unni Ramesh was rushed for medical treatment at Community Health Centre (CHC), Tuem, Pernem where he was declared as brought dead by the medical officer on duty.
The Mandrem police have registered a case against Gisle Merton for rash and negligent driving and causing death. PSI Paresh Kale is conducting investigations under the guidance of Mandrem PI Sherif Jacques.
