“I Resigned Before Their Press Conference; Amit Patkar Knows Nothing About Party Rules,” Says Khemlo Sawant

In a scathing rebuttal to recent claims by the Congress party, former party member Khemlo Sawant has clarified that he was not suspended, but had submitted his resignation two days prior to the party’s press conference announcing his so-called suspension.

“Whatever statements are being made by the Congress are lies. I was not suspended. I resigned two days ago, and only after that did they go ahead with a press conference,” Sawant said, directly challenging the party’s narrative.

Taking sharp aim at the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President, Sawant said, “The current state president, Amit Patkar, doesn’t know anything about the party or even its rules. You cannot suspend someone who has already resigned.”

He further criticized the party's internal functioning, stating, “These people are acting completely opposite to what Rahul Gandhi is preaching.”

In a bold prediction, Sawant warned that the party’s future in the state is bleak under Patkar’s leadership: “I still firmly say that if Amit Patkar continues as the state president of Congress, they won’t even win a single seat.”

Sawant’s comments have stirred political circles in Goa, reflecting ongoing turbulence within the state Congress unit. The party has yet to officially respond to his allegations.
