In a landmark achievement for Goan theatre and Indian regional performing arts, Kalachetana Volvoi, with the support of the Department of Art and Culture, Goa, and Encore as the official event partner, has set a new World Record for the “Maximum Shows of a Konkani Drama in a Single Day (Single Venue with the Same Team).”
On May 18, 2025, the dynamic ensemble staged seven consecutive shows of the widely acclaimed Konkani play ‘Ganv Zala Zantto’ at the Master Dattaram Auditorium, Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, in Ponda. Each show ran for two hours and featured the same dedicated cast and crew, making it an extraordinary display of endurance, artistic passion, and professional commitment.
The record-setting day was recognized and certified by the World Records Book of India, with certificates and medals officially presented by the organization’s Chief Editor and Senior Adjudicator.
Written by Suchita Narvekar, directed by Amog Budkule, and produced by Rajdeep Naik, Ganv Zala Zantto is a unique blend of comedy and social commentary, offering a heartfelt reflection of modern-day Goan life. The play’s widespread resonance has not only captivated audiences in Goa but also reached international stages—making it the first-ever Konkani drama to be performed in the United Kingdom.
Adding an inspiring highlight to the day, 5-year-old Bhumee Naik Narvekar also made her way into the record books by performing in all 7 shows, showcasing remarkable talent and stamina at such a young age.
Behind the scenes, the success of this marathon performance was made possible by the unwavering support of Kalachetana’s team members, families, and well-wishers, who ensured the cast and crew were well cared for throughout the day—with meals, medical attention, and emotional support.
Special credit also goes to Encore, the event partner, whose seamless coordination helped deliver an event of this scale with professionalism and precision.
This achievement is more than just a record—it is a celebration of Goan culture, community spirit, and creative excellence. The historic day of May 18, 2025, will be remembered as a proud milestone in Konkani theatre history, inspiring future generations of artists and performers.
