A controversy has emerged within the Lairai Temple committee as current president Dinanath Gaonkar has publicly accused former president Ganesh Gaonkar of misusing temple property and funds during his previous three terms in office.
Speaking to local media, Dinanath alleged that Ganesh Gaonkar did little to advance the temple’s development or upkeep during his tenure. “Despite serving three terms, he failed to initiate or complete any significant work for the temple. Instead, he used temple assets for his personal benefit,” Dinanath said.
The current committee is reportedly reviewing financial records and property usage from the previous terms to determine the extent of the alleged mismanagement. Dinanath added that necessary action would be taken if any misuse of funds or assets is confirmed.
Ganesh Gaonkar has yet to respond to the accusations. The issue has stirred debate among the temple’s devotees and the local community, who are calling for transparency and accountability in the temple’s administration.
