In a joint effort to combat illegal waste dumping, the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC), along with officials from the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC), conducted a late-night enforcement drive within the Mapusa Municipality jurisdiction. The operation aimed to curb the creation of black spots in the city caused by improper waste disposal.
During the drive, six offenders were booked under Section 3A 5(b) of the Goa Non-Biodegradable Garbage (GNBG) Act, 1996, for their involvement in creating illegal waste dumping sites. The drive was led by key officials, including Shri Dhiraj Chodankar from GWMC, Shri Siddhant Desai from GSPCB, and Shri Nandesh Natekar from GWMC.
The primary objective of the enforcement action was to raise awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal and to ensure that residents and businesses adhere to the regulations. Goa Police and Mapusa Municipality officials were also present during the drive, urging citizens to use designated waste disposal facilities to prevent further environmental damage.
Officials have emphasized that continued vigilance and collaboration between authorities and the public are crucial in maintaining cleanliness and sustainability in the region.
