PONDA: Overgrown tree branches protruding on the main road leading to Shiroda-Sanvordem have been posing a threat to the lives of commuters and pedestrians here.

Locals who regularly travel along this route said that either the trees be trimmed or the branches cut as the overgrowth obstructs views of riders and drivers

Local residents have highlighted that the huge tree, located at a sharp turn near Vaze-Shiroda, is causing traffic issues. “It could lead to a fatal accident, especially when two vehicles are trying to pass each other,” one local commented. Furthermore, buses stopping at this location are forced to halt partially on the road to avoid the tree, placing both passengers and other vehicles in jeopardy due to the overhanging branches.

Manohar Naik, a regular commuter on the Shiroda-Savordem route, recounted a similar incident from a few months ago. “There was a fatal accident at Mapa Panchawadi when two vehicles were giving way to each other on a narrow road. A similar tragedy could occur here if speeding vehicles are forced to pass each other at this spot,” he warned. Naik urged the authorities, including the local panchayat, to take immediate action before any untoward incident occurs.
