MARGAO: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Tuesday advocated the need to organise free medical camps for senior citizens by local bodies.
Commending the initiatives of Paroda Panchayat, he said “Medical camps will not only help senior citizens, but will also send a positive message wherein we can help society and show care for each other.”
Alemao was speaking after inaugurating a free eye check-up camp at Paroda.
Speaking about the types of eye-related problems occurring nowadays, he said that regular eye check-ups are crucial, especially for individuals suffering from diabetes or related diseases, as they can help safeguard vision and detect potential issues early on.
“We need to do regular check-ups, so it becomes easy for even doctors to treat patients by detecting any issues. By this practice we can avoid future complications and live a healthy life,” Alemao said.
He also appealed to citizens to avail the facilities.
“Local bodies can organise such check-up camps in association with CSR initiatives of business houses in their areas. Everyone should contribute to the good cause of society, only then we can get real happiness in our life,” Alemao said.
Sarpanch Paulina Fernandes said that in future too the panchayat will organise such camps for senior citizens, so they can avail the health facilities in the village itself.
“We have received overwhelming response to this camp and hence in future too we will organise such events,” she said.
