Long Queues at Panjim RTO as Citizens Rush to Pay Fines Amid Deadline and System Glitches

A long queue formed outside the Panjim Regional Transport Office (RTO) on Friday as hundreds of citizens hurried to pay pending traffic violation fines.

The sudden rush followed the transport department’s directive giving vehicle owners just seven days to clear outstanding penalties. Many citizens expressed frustration over the short notice and pointed out that the online payment system remains non-functional, forcing them to stand in line for hours.

Adding to public resentment, several people also criticized the AI-based traffic signal system, calling it confusing and prone to errors. Commuters claimed the system often leads to unfair penalization due to inaccurate detection of violations.

Residents have urged the transport authorities to extend the payment deadline and fix technical issues to ease the burden on citizens.
