A Loutolim-based caterer was caught in the act of illegally dumping wet food waste on the village plateau, sparking outrage among local residents. The waste was being offloaded on land belonging to the Loutolim Communidade when vigilant villagers, acting on suspicion, confronted the individual at the scene.
The accused, reportedly associated with a local catering business, allegedly claimed that he had received verbal permission from the panchayat secretary to dispose of the waste at the location. However, this claim was quickly and categorically denied by the Loutolim Village Panchayat.
Panchayat officials stated that no such authorization had been given and condemned the unauthorized disposal of waste, which they say threatens the environment and public health.
Authorities are expected to initiate further action against the offender, with local bodies calling for stricter monitoring and enforcement to prevent similar incidents in the future.
