PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (GPMCC) President Beena Shantaram Naik resigned from her post on Friday. Speaking to O Heraldo, Naik said, "I have resigned to make way for young blood to come forward."
In her resignation letter to All India Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba, Naik wrote, "I would like to resign as President of the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee but will continue serving the party as a Congress karyakarta."
She added, "The decision was made after much reflection. I believe it is the right time to step down and allow the younger generation to lead. It has been an honour to serve as Mahila Congress State President, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to strengthen the organisation."
Naik thanked the Mahila Congress members and office bearers for their support and dedication, while also affirming her continued availability to support the party.
Naik was appointed President in November 2021, following the resignation of then-state chief Pratima Coutinho, who joined the Aam Aadmi Party.
