Police Officer Narrowly Escapes Collision as 12-Wheeler from Karnataka Violates Traffic Rules

A major road accident was narrowly averted near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in Curchorem when a 12-wheeler truck from Karnataka, carrying concrete to Cacora Industrial Estate (IDC), dangerously violated traffic rules by taking a wrong turn and bypassing the designated traffic circle.

The reckless maneuver nearly caused a head-on collision with Police Officer Nilesh Desai, who was approaching from Sanguem in a four-wheeler. Quick reflexes prevented a serious crash, but the incident highlighted growing concerns over traffic violations by heavy vehicles in the region.

The Curchorem police have since detained the truck driver for questioning and further investigation. Authorities are examining whether negligence, unfamiliarity with local routes, or disregard for road safety played a role in the incident.

Police officials urge truck drivers and transport operators to strictly follow road signage and traffic patterns to avoid life-threatening situations, especially in densely trafficked areas.
