Man held for phone thefts at Calangute

CALANGUTE: Dinesh Patni, 30, a resident of Anjuna was arrested by the Calangute police on Monday for allegedly stealing mobile phones from tourists.

The cops also recovered four stolen phones from his possession.

Police said they apprehended the accused, a native of Gujarat, when he was found moving in a suspicious manner near Bhodkovodd, Calangute. When asked to stop, the accused attempted to flee, but was chased and caught by a police constable.

Police said that Patni, confessed to stealing mobile phones from various locations in Calangute.

The accused has been taken into custody under section 303(2) of the BNS 2023 and further investigations are in progress, said police.
